“Drawings” by Frank Guida

On Display:
July 1 to August 31, 2008

Artist Reception:
Sunday, July 13, 2008

2pm – 4pm, Kiernan Hall

Frank Guida’s collection of landscape drawings are remarkable impressions inspired by local forest scenes, many of which were drawn while visiting nearby Audubon sanctuaries. Both as a avid birder and a citizen science volunteer, Frank has made valuable contributions to the conservation community and now he has added something special to the artist community.

Frank Guida graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, majoring in Industrial Design. After graduation, he continued his art education by attending graduate art courses at the College of New Rochelle and the State University of New York at Purchase. After showing at local exhibitions, he was accepted at Westlake Gallery in White Plains and sold drawings there for several years.

Frank was a member of the Mamaroneck Artist Guild and the New Rochelle Art Association. He has been a drawing teacher for over 20 years. He has taught at the Pelham Art Center and the New Rochelle High School Continuing Education Program as well as several one-day seminars for the Westchester Parks and Recreation Department. Frank is represented in numerous art collections, having sold hundreds of his drawings over the years.

Frank won First Prize in the Pastel and Drawing category at the Mamaroneck Artists Guild 36th annual Juried Exhibition in Manhattan’s West Beth Gallery. He has also won many other first prize awards for his drawings, including the Rye Beaux Arts 42nd Annual Exhibition, The Mamaroneck Artist Guild Juried Show and the New Rochelle Art Association Adolf Grant Show. Along with these and numerous other awards, Frank has had many one-man shows of his work.

Frank has designed a series of Holiday cards and note cards for the “Friends Organization” of the Sound Shore Medical Center. Outside of Art, Frank is also an active birder. He participates in the Audubon’s annual Christmas Bird Count and is a member of the Hawk Migration Association of North America. Frank has a love of nature and hopes the landscapes in this show will reflect not only this love, but his creativity and selectivity in working with the designs and images of the natural world.

The Kiernan Hall Nature Arts Gallery is located inside the Kimberlin Nature Education Center, open to the public from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, every day of the week. Click here for directions to the center.
