Nature Photography by David M. Tunick
July through August 31, 2009
Opening reception with the artist: August 2nd, from 1 pm
- 4 pm
David M. Tunick, a native of Greenwich,
Connecticut, started taking photographs of animals as a child.
Initially he photographed his dogs, cats, chickens and goats.
As he grew older he started taking photos of birds and animals
in zoos and sanctuaries but he realized that above all, he
enjoyed seeing and photographing animals in the wild. Tunick
says he has always had a special rapport with animals and
birds. It is evident that such rapport exists when one looks
at his photographs. It actually appears that birds and animals
pose for him. Currently his land and seascapes and his portraits
of birds and animals are displayed in the Kimberlin Center,
Viggi Jewels and Trapp Optical in Greenwich. On Friday, July
2, 2009 selected works byTunick will be exhibited in The Kiernan
Hall Nature Arts Gallery in the Audubon, Greenwich.
Whether a sunrise in Newfoundland, a soulful
looking moose bathing in a river or a hawk grasping a struggling
mouse, Tunick’s intention is to portray nature in its
entirety, with its moments of sweetness and moments of striking
reality. To this photographer, it all fits together, the sweetness,
the beauty, the richness, the sadness. Tunick does not manipulate
images; he feels that the beauty of the subject lies in its
uniqueness. What exists before his eyes exists before yours.
His hope is that his photographs bring a heightened appreciation
of the wonders of the natural world.
The Kiernan Hall Nature
Arts Gallery is located inside the Kimberlin Nature Education
