Counting Birds
Scientists have many ways of gathering data about bird populations and the National Audubon Society is developing a range of Citizen Science programs that are suitable for birders of all degrees of experience. Simply by getting involved in some of these local bird counts or registering your sightings from a recent birding trip, anyone can really make a difference in helping researchers learn more about wild birds and the habitats they depend on.
Audubon Greenwich is involved in the following bird count programs:
- Quaker Ridge Bird Count – every day from August to November
- Christmas Bird Count – approx. one day in mid-December
- Summer Bird Count – approx. one day in June
- Project FeederWatch – regularly from November to April
- Great Backyard Bird Count – four days in mid-February
