Summer Bird Count Statistics

Held on one day in mid-June, the scope of the Summer Bird Count is similar to the Christmas Bird Count in its count circle extent. Not only does it provide a good excuse to spend a day birding in warm weather, it also is a very important way for researchers to learn about the location of bird populations at that time of the year, the Summer Bird Count provides important information about the location of breeding birds.

Click here to view the complete Summer Bird Count Records from 1976 - 2010 via an Excel Spreadsheet. Use tabs along the bottom of the spreadsheet to find different years.

For more information about this data or to join a 'counting team' for the next Summer Bird Count, please contact Audubon Greenwich at 203-869-5272 and ask for Brian O'Toole at x221 or Ted Gilman at x230.
