Hawk Week Kickoff Party

September 28, 2020

Join Greenwich Audubon Center as we celebrate the fall raptor migration season and kickoff Hawk Week!

Each fall, Broad-winged Hawks and other birds of prey migrate across Connecticut by the thousand in large flocks called “kettles,” soaring on thermals from their breeding grounds to winter habitat thousands of miles away. This migration season occurs from late August through November, but the peak is September-October. We will be joined by special guest Julie Brown of the Hawk Migration Association of North America who will discuss how our hawk watch's data along with data from hawk watches across the country help HMANA to assess the health of raptor populations.

Tune in for our online Hawk Week Kickoff Party as we launch our week-long celebration of this amazing phenomenon from our Quaker Ridge Hawk Watch lawn at our center.

We support a diverse and inclusive environment, and welcome individuals of all races, physical and mental abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, ethnicities, and perspectives. We work with families to modify programs for accessibility where possible.
